BG Zakariyya Mansoor meets with UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Shoko Noda

The Director General of Counter Terrorism Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor today met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Maldives, Ms. Shoko Noda. The meeting took place at MNDF Headquarters, Bandaara Koshi.

In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the activities and projects planned by UNDP for 2018, and collaborations with the NCTC. BG Mansoor stated that UNDP is a key partner for the NCTC, and would welcome opportunities to work together, especially in preventing and countering violent extremist ideologies, promoting tolerance and peace, and creating community resilience.

Ms. Noda also highlighted the critical role that NCTC plays, and thanked BG Mansoor and the NCTC for the opportunity to partner and work on areas of common interest. Ms. Noda stated that UNDP would seek to expand its activities in the Maldives, especially those targeted at community harmony and peace, and that would always consider NCTC to be a chief partner and stakeholder.
