Director General leaves for the first UN high-level conference of CT Heads

Today, Director General of National Counter Terrorism Centre, Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor left Maldives to participate in the United Nations High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter Terrorism Agencies of member States.

This conference is to be held from 28th-29th June 2018 in the United Nations Head Quarters. This conference is an initiative of the UN Secretary General and is held on request from 152 member states who participated in the UN General Assembly held in September 2017. This is the first such conference of the UN and its main aim is to foster relations between member states in curbing terrorism and Violent Extremism. Topics of discussion during the seminar would be on, Counter Terrorism and Counter Violent Extremism Strategies of member states and also on ways and means of strengthening the CT & CVE mechanisms of member states and collaboration between member states.

This seminar would give Maldives a unique opportunity to strengthen its network with counter terrorism agencies of the member states.
